IntelliRope® PE 4.5
4.5mm (3/16") electrifiable rope for semi-permanent and portable fencing situations.
- Virgin polyethylene (v-PE) filaments resist wear and abrasion
- Excellent built-in elasticity
- 3 tinned copper and 3 stainless steel conductive filaments are 400 times more conductive vs. stainless steel only polywires
IntelliRope® PE 4.5 is identical to IntelliRope® PE 6.0, except it has fewer non-conductive monofilaments making it thinner and lighter.

Benefits
It is particularly good for humid climates because polyethylene resists mildew better than polyester.
Can be pre-wound onto an EcoReel, EcoReel XL or a SupaReel (Spool Only) or SupaReel (Complete).

Installation Tips
Regular maintenance is required to adjust the tension of conductors and reset any loose line posts. Tree limbs that fall upon the fence must be removed immediately.
For dry soil and snowy conditions, convert the fence to “positive/negative” by connecting every other strand to a galvanized stake driven into the soil.
Spacing of line posts must be adjusted to terrain. Always put a post at top of hills and bottom of valleys. Vary the spacing of rope strands according to type and size of animal(s), fence usage (boundary vs. subdivision) and the number of strands.
Suggested Strand Height (from ground):
- For Sheep:
- 3-strand fence—35", 24", 12"
- 5-strand fence—36", 27", 20", 13", 7"
- For Cattle:
- 1-strand fence—34"
- 2-strand fence—34", 22"
- 3-strand fence—40", 27", 15"
- For Horses:
- 2-strand fence—46", 24"
- 5-strand fence—60", 48", 36", 24", 12"
- For Gardens:
- 2-strand fence—15", 6"

Works great. My goat chewed on it until I powered it up. No more chewing.

We’ve only been using the IntelliRope 4.5 for about 2 months, but it appears to be a great product. The cows we used it with had never seen a ‘hot wire’ so we were prepared for a few issues! But it wasn’t a problem at all. Yes, they learned about it quickly, and at times created some humorous antics, but being as visible as it is I think helps them figure it out without any undue stress. It can certainly pack a jolt!

Using for pigs as a low 2-wire fence. In service for 2–3 weeks. Easy setup, especially with RopeLinks, using step-in posts. Conductivity is great so far with a solar charger and a run of 300–400 feet and easy to expand. Much prefer this so far over the net fencing used previously.

I have over 20 years of experience raising goats and have used many different types of fencing to try and keep the little rascals in their pasture. This is my favorite type of electric fencing for goats! I like the thickness of the rope, as it’s easy to work with and doesn’t tangle as easily as Intellitwine. I also like the higher visibility of the black and white strands for both animals and people. It conducts electricity well because of the multiple wires running through the rope. We use this for a fair number of more permanent fences, but it is ideal for temporary fences as well.
The only downside is that it does seem to stretch a bit overtime and get a bit looser when the weather gets colder, but that’s not something that affects the functionality of the fence and it’s easily fixed.
Great-quality fencing that has been a favorite of ours for goats and horses for quite a few years!

I really like IntelliRope for its visibility yet it’s minimally affected by wind compared to tape.
