NoShock™ Hen Pen
Product Details

A lightweight, non-electrified net enclosure for chickens and other poultry. Best when used as a monitored day pen for adult birds and chicks. Allows you to move your flock to fresh grass quickly and easily. Features a built-in step-through gate.
Because this fence cannot be electrified, we recommend that you move your birds to a safe, secure location at night. NoShock™ Hen Pen will NOT stop predators.
For protection from predators, look to Shock-Or-Not™ Poultry Fence which can also be used a day pen for young birds.

How to Install
Installation Tips
- Before installing line posts, stretch the net out in an open area. For best results, ensure posts are woven through the mesh using the same vertical columns.
- The white post caps come detached to allow you to easily weave the line posts into the net without snagging. If desired, an acrylic adhesive can be used to permanently secure them to the post.
- Many find building a circular pen easier than creating a square or rectangular space. Why? Because measured post spacings are not as critical. To begin, secure the first and last post together. Then create a small circular enclosure with the remaining posts. Progressively expand the circular area outward to add tension. For more support when using a circular enclosure, position the posts so the double-spike faces inward.
- When moving the pen, or for storage, walk along the fence, removing the posts from the soil and holding them in your hand in a tidy bundle. This allows the loose netting to fold together into pleats. After all posts have been collected, lay the netting onto the ground and roll up the folds towards the bundle of posts. (This “fold and then roll” process is very similar to our electrifiable nets.)
Consult the assembly instructions (linked above) for additional information.
Precautions
For flighty birds, clip their flight feathers on one wing to prevent escape.
Rabbits, chipmunks, mice and other small critters may chew through the nonelectrified strings of the HenPen causing damage to the fence.

If you have wild rabbits, the fence will be useless within days of install. Rabbits eat thru it and young birds find the hole within minutes. I lost 30 birds out of 100 before I noticed the chewed holes. I really wanted this to work with my mobile coop as it is easy set up, but it’s useless now. I do not recommend.

Best purchase I have made for my flock and me! I have 11 hens in a stationary coop +run and 3 large dogs, to protect them. I use the Hen Pen to contain the ladies and direct them, as needed. I have found the Hen Pen so versatile and useful; I am buying a second one as I expand my flock. I can keep the newbies and the old ladies separate, until they all get used to each other. It is also useful to keep injured or problem hens separate, while not completely separating them from their flock.
I should point out, I do not use the Hen Pen as a circle, around my entire coop. I place one pole stake, behind the open run door. I then secure the door to the pole. I place the other end of the netting a few feet down the exterior run wall. The girls have an extended run, also access to nesting boxes, food, water.
I have had my Hen Pen for 2 years. This month, I had my first break in the netting, as a result of my dog. I adjust the pen weekly and sometimes daily or I have taken it down completely and tossed it in a heap, for coop maintenance.
Yes, it took patience! Also, few times of moving it around, before I stopped getting mad at the thing and cursing it! I just had to figure out the easiest way for me to use it for my small flocks needs. So worth it, even my teenage girls move it around for me.

I currently have a stationary coop and use an electric fence around it. This Hen Pen allows my birds (6 hens) to go on “field trips” to fresh grass and a new area to explore. I live in a subdivision, so this works out great. I can put it up in a few minutes — though it did take some time to initially assemble. Taking it down does take a little practice. I am a middle-aged petite woman and the net is a bit cumbersome for me. The net arrived a little frayed, but does not seem to affect the usefulness. My birds are trained to an electric fence so they know not to get too close to any fencing!

Very easy to set up. Gate works well. Seems like it will last a long time and looks nice.

I really wanted this to work for my chickens, but they were able to peck large holes in the netting and escape within a few days of putting it up. Even though Premier has a money back guarantee, they wouldn’t honor it and said that it was a larger animal that did the damage. Although I actually witnessed the chickens create the holes.
