PermaNet® 10/48/6 Electric Netting
Product Details

Use PermaNet® for sites that have installation problems for permanent wire fences (hills, rocks, curves, trees, no machine access). It keeps sheep and goats in and predators out. Can stop a wide range of animals.
How does it compare to our temporary nets (ElectroNet® and ElectroStop®, etc?)
- It’s taller, 48"—therefore more reliable.
- Designed to be left in one place for months or years. For this it has stronger, heavier, larger PVC posts with longer, thicker, steel spikes. The result is better support through wind, rain, ice and snow.
- It’s a very good conductor (low electrical resistance). This is critical as weed contact may become heavy.
- Supplied in many lengths—to enable users to buy the right length for each situation.
Benefits
Common Uses

* Pos/Neg (PN) fences are recommended where the soil is very dry and/or the animals do not ground well. Two clips are used at each end. One is hooked to the energizer, the second should be connected to a ground rod.
Installation
Tip: When using Pos/Neg fencing, a PowerLink (see Accessories) is recommended to attach the negative lead to the ground rod.
See PDFs and videos above for additional installation instructions.
Common Questions
- Will PermaNet® 10/48/6 contain poultry?
- No. Because of the 6" wide spacings, this PermaNet® will NOT contain chickens. For chickens, we recommend 42" or 48" tall electric netting with 3" wide spacings.
- How easy is PermaNet® to install?
- We suggest installing PermaNet® with two people. Why? Because of its extra weight and longer posts.
It can be handled, installed and removed by one person, but having another person on each end of the posts doubles the productivity and makes it easier for both.
Pushing or stepping posts into the soil is still a one-person task. And so is pulling the posts out of the soil. But these tasks take more effort because the spikes are both larger and longer. (After all, it doesn’t work to have a strong, well-supported post without large and long spikes.)
Precautions
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Troubleshooting
If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

This is truly outstanding fence. Get the double spike and tie off to a tpost on corners and gate. Easy to put up and set up. My meat goat flock stays in nicely. Very light and durable.

This was my third order for this product. It's expensive but we couldn't be more pleased. It really is as simple as the videos make it out to be. It's quick to install, quick to move and does a great job keeping the goats in and the other critters out. We had one goat "challenge" the fence the first day. Let's just say that the whole group gives the fence a lot of respect now! Highly recommend.

Purchased the double spike for ease in setting the fence. However, the spikes are very weak and bend easily. Owner needs to take a lot of care to keep them from bending.

So far so good , went up quick I put out 2 100' foot rolls, walked backwards and stuck them in the ground as the next one was stretched out. hardest part was clearing and mowing the path throught the bush. Also purchased the patriot P5 fence charger, then picked up a 12v rechargable battery and solar charge controller and 12v solar panel. put it all together and charged the fence, was only getting 2k to 3k volts...adjusted ground connection , got 4k Volts....the goats got through the fence twice before I regrounded it...then I held them on the fence so they could get a couple snaps...they respect the fence now. although it's only been 24hrs..I think it's going to work for this small homestead.

I bought the Pos/Neg double spike Permanet and the Premier PRS 50 solar energizer for my small herd of dairy goats. I wanted this type of fencing because my soil is very dry half the year and also sandy, so pos/neg and double spikes were needed. Friends that have the regular electric fencing have problems in the summer( without the pos/neg). So far it is working well and my goats were trained after a couple hours and a couple shocks.
Premier was very helpful while I was making the decision about what to buy.
There are 2 things I wish I had known before buying. First, I would recommend training the herd while the ground is still wet. Pos/neg fencing can be changed to function as regular fencing very easily. In the pos/neg form the animal needs to contact 2 live wires at the same time in order to get shocked. In the regular form the animal only has to contact one wire. The pos/neg Permanet will work as a regular net if the ground is wet, making it much easier to train animals.
The other thing I wish I'd known is to buy at least 12 extra non-conducting posts. I bought 8 extra and this is not enough to prevent the netting from saging. The lowest hot strand is 6 inches from the bottom but it still touches the ground even with 8 extra support posts. Premier charges shipping on these extra posts and it is expensive.
I am pleased with my perchase so far. The solar energizer is well-sealed and very nice. I can now move my goats around my yard without having to constantly be out watching them. Their rumens are full and my yard looks better.
