PermaNet® 10/48/6 Electric Netting
Product Details
Use PermaNet for sites that have installation problems for permanent wire fences (hills, rocks, curves, trees, no machine access). It keeps sheep and goats in and predators out. Can stop a wide range of animals.
How does it compare to our temporary nets (ElectroNet® and ElectroStop®, etc?)
- It's taller, 48"—therefore more reliable.
- Designed to be left in one place for months or years. For this it has stronger, heavier, larger PVC posts with longer, thicker, steel spikes, supporting the net better through wind, rain, ice and snow.
- It's a very good conductor (low electrical resistance). This is critical as weed contact may become heavy.
- Supplied in many lengths—to enable users to buy the right length for each situation.
Benefits
Common Uses

* Pos/Neg (PN) fences are recommended where the soil is very dry and/or the animals do not ground well. Two clips are used at each end. One is hooked to the energizer, the second should be connected to a ground rod.
Installation
Tip: When using Pos/Neg fencing, a PowerLink (see Accessories above) is recommended to attach the negative lead to the ground rod.
We suggest installing PermaNet with two people. Why? Because of its extra weight and longer posts. It can be handled, installed and removed by one person, but having another person on each end of the posts doubles the productivity and makes it easier for both.
Pushing or stepping posts into the soil is still a one-person task. And so is pulling the posts out of the soil. But these tasks take more effort because the spikes are both larger and longer. (After all, it doesn’t work to have a strong, well-supported post without large and long spikes.)
Note: Weeds must be controlled for PermaNet to remain effective. Either move and mow as needed during the growing season, or spray herbicide (see photos above) along the bottom strand of the net. If you can’t do this, PermaNet may not be the right net for you.
See PDFs and videos above for additional installation instructions.
Precautions
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause post spikes to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.

This fencing is great. It is easily taken down but you have to take care not to get it all tangled up. It is not as easy as it appears to put it up. There is a lot of prep work such as mowing the area pre installation and it is easy to get it all tangled up. The best way to unwind it is to have someone hold their arms out straight while the other person makes sure the stakes come out in order. When taking it down we pull all the stakes up and lay the fence down then fan fold it to make it easier to put back up. The only real draw back as I see it is that you must maintain short grass under the fence. We had to keep moving it over and mowing then moving it back again so it would function properly. The electric gates are easy to use and can be rolled up to any size you need. This is a fairly fast way to fence an area and it seems to not require too much maintenance except keeping the grass from growing up under it which reduces its charge.
Once you get the hang of it the process goes much faster. Initially we were thinking they made it look easy in the video and was suppose to be up in 30 minutes but one roll took us about 2 hours the fist time. Double stakes are harder to use in rocky soil but they stand up better if you can find the right place to put them. We used metal fence posts set away from the electric fencing at the corner and at the gate openings to give it more support by tying the electric fence post to the T post leaving a gap in between to keep it from grounding out.
If you ever hear a popping sound of regular beat then you need to look and see what is causing the charge to arc. S bug got caught on ours and is was arching between the electric fence and the metal post we used for support through the insect. Needless to say the insect was fried. It is durable and ours has been taken down and put back up multiple times this year in its first use for a quick area to fence off access or to enclose livestock. The fence is not as effective on sheep as unless they touch it with their nose the woo; insulates them from the shock. It does give off some kind of force field though as if we have it on and the animals rush toward us they come to a screeching halt about 3 feet from the fence. Once shocked it is not necessary to worry about them short term getting out if it goes out as they are conditioned already to its visual presence and know what it feels like to be shocked. I wish the lower sections were a little closer together as our baby goats could slip thru the openings. When they got older a few of them tried it and got stuck consequently getting shocked over over again, bleating frantically while their body jumped around on the ground until we could turn it off. That did make an impression though and after that they were a little more respectful of the fence.
We have had no predator problems with this fencing.

We are using the fence for Boer Goats. The fence was easy to install but the downfall is that it cannot be cut and doesn't come in smaller lengths than 25'. We needed a 29' section so we had to buy a 50' length. Lots of waist.

This was one of the best purchases Ive ever made. We are raising Boer goats and have 2 week old babies and I have no problem leaving them for the day alone with others. The fence has already held up to bad winds and never moved. If you are looking for perm fence or strip grazing this is the product. I am buying 3 more this week to strip a hill down that im tired of bush hoggin, safer for me.

I use the green/black 4 foot netting around my property to keep the dogs in and the coyotes out. It works GREAT!!! The green/black blends in with shrubs/yard very well. From a short distance you can't even tell there's a fence there.

We are thoroughly pleased with our purchase of the PermaNet Fencing. It allowed us to secure our sheep while permanent perimiter fencing was being installed. It has also enabled us to rotate pastures, easily moving the fence when necessary. The double stakes are great for our windy changeable weather. Your staff was very helpfull in recommending the right fence and charger for our farm. Thank you for great service and a great product.
