A prefabricated, portable electric fence that has 12 horizontal strands (11 conductive), is 42" tall installed and has string verticals every 3". Built-in line posts are spaced every 12'.

Keeps in chickens, ducks, geese and other poultry while keeping their ground-based predators out. Recommended for containing heavy, non-flying birds.

Arrives to your door as a preassembled fence. One roll (164 ft) weighs only 23 lbs. You will need a fence energizer to electrify the net.

Benefits
Netting is quick and simple to move. Even for new users, it takes less than 10 minutes to go from out-of-the-box netting to installed fence.

No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening. For added convenience, a PoultryNet® Gate can be used to provide easy access without the need to turn the energizer off.

Installation
The same “unroll and then unfold” process applies to all electrified nets. Minimal strength or skill needed (and no tools). Extra supports such as FiberTuff™ step-in posts are useful at corners, curves and ends. You will need a fence energizer to electrify the net.

Precautions
PoultryNet is not effective with baby chicks that are small enough to crawl through the net openings and therefore are not deterred by the electric shock.

Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.

Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.

Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.

Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.

Dry or frozen ground may cause post spikes to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.

Troubleshooting
If the voltage drops below 3000V on the net, you need to turn off the energizer and unhook the net from the energizer. Test the energizer by itself. If the voltage is 5000V or higher on the energizer, the problem is in the net. The most common problem is that the lowest “hot” strand has been caught around one of the metal spikes on the posts and is shorting it out. The net must be at least 2" away from anything metal (metal posts, existing fences, spikes on support posts).

With PoultryNet, the bottom hot wire can slip off of the plastic portion of the end posts onto the metal spikes. This will cause a dead short and no energy will be on the fence. Unhook the energizer and slide the hot wire back onto the post. Reconnect the energizer to the net and test.

Warranty
With proper care, netting should last 5-7 years. Replacements will be prorated.

Standard PoultryNet works well for us, but for some it sags too much between the posts so we also have PoultryNet Plus. The “plus” version is heavier and bulkier to move though. If you don’t plan to move the net very often and want it “tight”, use PermaNet Plus. But the most important point, it keeps our birds in and predators out!

Recommended with reservation... the netting works for the chickens OK, after you get it up.

The problem is with the PVC post. The posts are flimsy, weak... cheap!

I ordered the double tine version to make sure I had enough support, but the PVC post won't hold up the netting without sagging and touching the ground. So if you order this, plan on buy 10-14 extra post from somewhere else, like a farm supply store. Get the stiff plastic or fiberglass version. You can use an extra post in between every factory post... depending on your terrain and how many curves you make with the fence. I was going to send the fence back for a refund, but it was going to cost me $30 in shipping both ways. So I spent the money on more posts.

Previous reviews talk about the post problem so take this as an additional warning.

We at Premier have been long felt that poultrynet with its many horizontals and verticals, is so heavy that normal 1/2 in. dia. posts (originally designed for sheep netting) are not stiff enough to support it. PoultryNet that's only 42 in. tall (12/42/3) is less heavy and so less of a problem -- but even then the net is prone to sagging. We've tried adding more posts in the net itself but many users objected that it made a roll of nettting too heavy and bulky.
There are 2 solutions: 1.) Buy PermaNet 12/48/3. Same net but with much stronger posts. Downside is that the net, as a result, is heavier and less easier to move. It's a 2 person task to move it. 2). In less than a month the posts in Premier's PoultryNet will be slightly larger in diameter (15 mm instead of 13 mm) -- though not nearly as large as those of PermaNet. As a result the posts are stiffer and so better at supporting the weight of the electrified mesh. (We've made this change last autumn for the exact reason noted by the reviewer above). — Premier

I was disappointed with my purchase of PoultryNet in terms of quality of materials. Upon opening my new roll, the bottom black 'wire' was broken in several places. Also,while setting the fence up for turkeys a piglet got inside the newly fenced area and in trying to get out bounced off the fence snapping the white end post off just above the metal ground spike. I feel like the white posts are not that solid (even before pig damage) and the quality of the plastic used in the mesh is mediocre. I found the double spikes to be great.

Althugh the young chicks could easily squeeze out through the netting, they always returned to their proper place in the evening and were secure against the rampant night time predators we have. On my uneven ground, I needed to use additional support posts to keep the netting from sagging.
