Product Details
A prefabricated, 48" tall electric fence to keep in chickens, ducks, geese and other poultry while keeping their ground-based predators out. Recommended for active birds that like to fly (e.g. Leghorns and Buttercups).

Benefits
No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening. For added convenience, a rigid EasyGate or a PoultryNet® Gate can be used to provide easy access without the need to turn the energizer off.

Precautions
Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause post spikes to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Troubleshooting
If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

I’ve been purchasing poultry net from Premier 1 for about 10 years. The double spike net is so much easier to setup. Well worth the few extra dollars. I recommend it for anyone, but especially those of us that are getting a little older.

Though it does provide a good shock and keeps predators out, it does nothing to keep flighty chickens in. I even clipped their wings and they can still get to the top wire and roost on it. I have a 2-joule energizer powering it, and unless they touch the wires with their beak while their feet are on the ground, they couldn’t care less about it. There’s no way for them to complete the ground circuit if they can get to the top wire.

For anyone thinking their getting a better deal on the 164' roll, think again, and read this. I purchased both the 100' roll and 164' rolls. Their trick is, with the 164' roll they give you fewer support rods. The spacing between each is so much farther than with the 100' roll, that no matter how tight you pull, or flat the terrain is, you will not eliminate major sag in the netting. So much sag that the bottom 4 lines will touch the ground. Your only two solutions for this is to either toss the 164' rolls or pay MORE MONEY for additional fiberglass rods to support the sag at 18 points. This will cost you over $100 additional. Therefore buying longer lengths is not going to save you, instead will cost you far more time and money with the effort to move those extra rods.
We offer both 100' and 164' rolls because they serve different needs. Customers who move netting frequently, such as those with pastured poultry, often prefer the longer 164' rolls to cover more ground with fewer moves. Others, especially those setting up semi-permanent runs, prefer the 100' PLUS nets with closer post spacing for added support.
Post spacing and total post count are influenced in part by keeping the roll weight manageable, ~20 lbs. Adding more posts to a 164' roll would significantly increase the weight and make it more difficult for one person to handle.
Terrain and how often the fence is moved also play a role in which option works best, and your feedback highlights an important consideration for others evaluating netting options.
