PoultryNet® and PoultryNet® Plus 12/48/3 Kits
Use this netting kit to contain and control flighty birds while protecting them from unwanted predators. 48" tall.
You will need a fence energizer to electrify the net.
Recommended for active, flighty birds (e.g. Leghorns and Buttercups) and protection from large predators such as coyotes and dogs. For heavy, non-flying breeds, look to 42" PoultryNet kits, which is shorter and easier to handle.
Netting Kit includes:
- 164 ft roll of 48" PoultryNet or 100 ft roll of 48" PoultryNet Plus
- (4) 48" FiberTuff™ support posts
Complete Kit:
- 48" PoultryNet® Plus Starter Kit—Contains netting, energizer, support posts and fence & battery digital tester.
Benefits
No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening. For added convenience, a PoultryNet® Gate can be used to provide easy access without the need to turn the energizer off.
PoultryNet “Plus” is identical to standard 48" PoultryNet, but to help with sagging, we’ve added more posts to shorten the distance between them (6'8" vs. 10'). More posts means less sag and a more versatile fence which adapts easily to curves and hills.
Double spike posts are more stable in soft soils.
Common Uses
- Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis.
- Rotate poultry to fresh grass as a food source and to reduce disease risks.
- Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.
- Keeps out deer, bear, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks.
- Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs.
Specs
Netting kit includes:
- 100 or 164 ft roll of 48" PoultryNet or PoultryNet Plus single spike or double spike electric netting.
- 4 48" FiberTuff™ support posts.
PoultryNet 12/48/3 is a 48" electrifiable prefabricated fence. It arrives at your door as a complete roll with the single spike or double spike posts already built into the mesh/fence. Features 12 horizontals strands (11 conductive) with vertical strings placed every 3". “Plus” nets include additional line posts spaced every 6'8" to reduce sag. Add more rolls for a larger enclosure.
FiberTuff™ Posts provide additional support around curves, corners and other major directional changes. Use at end posts to help maintain tension on the fence.
Installation
See PDFs and videos above for additional installation instructions.
Precautions
Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Troubleshooting
With PoultryNet, the bottom hot wire can slip off of the plastic portion of the end posts onto the metal spikes. This will cause a dead short and no energy will be on the fence. Unhook the energizer and slide the hot wire back onto the post. Reconnect the energizer to the net and test.

Not impressed. I have seen many people use this fencing and they all seem to like it. Our experience hasn't been so great. We bought this fence for containing/protecting our chickens. If you plan to move it every couple days or weekly like we did it can be a chore. Trying to keep the tension on the fence to where the fence doesn't sag between the posts does not work very well. No matter how much you stretch on it and even with putting the support posts in the corners. We are having grounding issues as well. The ground stake is short and will not give our fence enough charge to shock the chickens. They will walk up to the fence and step on the small holes on the bottom and go right through the larger holes above. But the fence has enough charge to shock our dogs and our goats.
I went with this fence over the Shock-or-Not fence for the reason of 164' to 100'. I wanted that extra space. But in my opinion I would get two of the Shock-or-Not fence to have the space and also it has the small poultry netting at the bottom to help keep chickens in. But I did not want the expense of two nets to achieve the size.
I don't want to seem like I'm going 100 percent negative on this fence. I am just disappointed that not very many people that I have seen online and other reviews have not said anything about the negatives. I just want to be honest and upfront before someone who thinks this will solve the problem of needing a chicken pen that there are drawbacks to the fence and it is a pretty big investment especially if you buy a fence and charger. Having said that I give it two stars because I think I would detour a predator if they touched their nose to it. But overall not 100 satisfied.

Love the fencing for goats and chickens. Well made and long lasting! Very worth the money!

It is so much nicer than my other poultry netting. It is more expensive but well worth it. The quality of the posts is much stronger and sturdier, and the netting itself is a higher quality. I’m really impressed with it!

I bought 2 PoultryNet 12/48/3 164' Kits to use with a Patriot P30 (yes overkill) to keep my ducks safe from predators. They look good but posts are flimsy, sag when stretched, and don't support the length of fence. The fence stretches and also sags in any distance longer than 4-5 feet constantly shorting rendering the shock to almost nil. It was necessary to purchase as many posts as was provided to keep it off the ground and I'll be adding steel posts at the corners to keep it from needing to be adjusted every day. This became a very expensive solution. Not sure I would pan the product but it is insufficient on its own.
For a semi-permanent solution, look to PermaNet Plus 12/48/3. It has the same electrifiable mesh as PoultryNet, but with thicker posts and longer ground spikes.
