PoultryNet® with PrimaPosts™ 12/48/3
Product Details
A prefabricated, portable electric fence that has 12 horizontal strands (11 conductive), is 48" tall installed and has string verticals every 3". PrimaPosts™ are built into the mesh every 10 ft.
PoultryNet® with PrimaPosts™ keeps in chickens, ducks, geese and other poultry while keeping their ground-based predators out. Recommended for active, flighty birds. The taller 48" net is more likely to discourage large predators such as coyotes and dogs.
Why PrimaPosts?
- Stiffer—advanced fiberglass composite for increased strength and rigidity
- Weighs less per ft—posts are smaller in diameter vs. PVC posts of similar stiffness (13mm vs. 19mm)
Which PoultryNet® is right for you?
We offer many fences to fit your situation, including multiple lengths with different post spacings, drivable line posts and positive/negative options for dry soils. Visit this link to compare all PoultryNet options.Benefits
Its very low electrical resistance (35 ohms per 1000') is important for fences that are either long or will experience high weed contact.
PoultryNet® with PrimaPosts™ is available in (2) colors:
- Green & White — Item #208448
- Blends well with a green-grass background while offering good visibility to humans and animals.
- Blue & White — Item #208451
- 4-legged animals generally have poor color vision, but see shades of blue clearly. Because blue is an unusual color when seen on the ground, curious livestock (and their predators) check the fence with their sensitive noses. The result is a memorable electric shock. Animals conclude the fence itself is painful—and learn to avoid it.
Common Uses
- Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis.
- Rotate poultry to fresh grass as a food source and to reduce disease risks.
- Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.
- Keeps out deer, bear, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks.
- Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs.

Installation
Ensure the net is at least 2" away from anything metal (e.g. T-posts, existing wire fences, spikes on support posts, etc.)
See PDFs and videos above for additional installation instructions.
Precautions
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed when using PrimaPosts™ in hard soil. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Troubleshooting
If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

We haven’t bought a poultry netting in many years and this one is a great upgrade. The spikes are thick. I like the height. The older ones we had we had to stop using because my sheep would jump the net and get into chicken’s feed. Very pleased!
Marjorie W from Maryland
The perfect poultry fence! Right height, spacings that they can’t sneak through, easy to install and move.

Thank you Premier 1! The PoultryNet I ordered came quickly and was packaged very well. I unboxed and set up the fence the day it arrived. My chickens are happily and safely out in the pasture.

Fence was quick to set up. Has worked well with the poults, and even better at protecting them from the pesky chocolate lab!

I did a lot of research on fencing for my chicken tractor. I read a lot about pretty much all brands, Premier 1’s price was a little high too, but I ended up ordering this PoultryNet and I haven’t regretted it. I have real bad issues with raccoons and coyotes living next to a protected forest and miles of open fields, absolutely wrecking any setup I had tried in the past. I put this fence up and I haven’t had any losses since and I’m not sure if it’s connected or not but there’s no evidence of predators even being on my property since. I haven’t had any issues with sagging as others have mentioned, maybe on a real rainy day the ground will get too soft and might sag a bit, but it’s a 30 second fix to reposition the pole. Easy to move around, and if I’m close enough to an outlet I’ll plug it in. I use a battery if I’m further out and both setups work amazing for me. I’ll probably end up ordering another one here soon to extend the run for my permanent coop.
