PoultryNet® with PrimaPosts™ 12/48/3
New! A prefabricated, portable electric fence that has 12 horizontal strands (11 conductive), is 48" tall installed and has string verticals every 3". PrimaPosts™ are built into the mesh every 10 ft.
PoultryNet® with PrimaPosts™ keeps in chickens, ducks, geese and other poultry while keeping their ground-based predators out. Recommended for active, flighty birds. The taller 48" net is more likely to discourage large predators such as coyotes and dogs.
Why PrimaPosts?
- Stiffer—advanced fiberglass composite for increased strength and rigidity
- Weighs less per ft—posts are smaller in diameter vs. PVC posts of similar stiffness (13mm vs. 19mm)
Which PoultryNet® is right for you?
We offer many fences to fit your situation, including multiple lengths with different post spacings, drivable line posts and positive/negative options for dry soils. Visit this link to compare all PoultryNet options.Benefits
Its very low electrical resistance (35 ohms per 1000') is important for fences that are either long or will experience high weed contact.
PoultryNet® with PrimaPosts™ is available in (2) colors:
- Green & White — Item #208448
- Blends well with a green-grass background while offering good visibility to humans and animals.
- Blue & White — Item #208451
- 4-legged animals generally have poor color vision, but see shades of blue clearly. Because blue is an unusual color when seen on the ground, curious livestock (and their predators) check the fence with their sensitive noses. The result is a memorable electric shock. Animals conclude the fence itself is painful—and learn to avoid it.
Common Uses
- Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis.
- Rotate poultry to fresh grass as a food source and to reduce disease risks.
- Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.
- Keeps out deer, bear, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks.
- Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs.

Installation
Ensure the net is at least 2" away from anything metal (e.g. T-posts, existing wire fences, spikes on support posts, etc.)
See PDFs and videos above for additional installation instructions.
Precautions
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed when using PrimaPosts™ in hard soil. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Troubleshooting
If possible, separate the fence into sections. Then progressively reconnect, checking voltage as you go. When the voltage drops, you’ve identified the section with the problem. Listen for snapping sounds. This occurs when a conductor is close to a grounded wire, metal objects, fallen branches, or other green vegetation causing a “short”. Shorts cause fence voltage to collapse and allow animals to touch the fence without feeling pain.

Great durable netting. We use it for our calves and chickens.

I already had the PoultryNet Starter Kit and it’s been working well. Note if you have ant issues: Keep ant bait in the battery box. I did have to replace the PCB board after ants shorted it out, which was taken care of by Premier.
I bought this fence to allow the hens to free range when I’m at home. It looks great and was very easy to set up. I didn’t notice that the spikes don’t have horizontal foot posts to help seat them, as in the kit. Here we are on sand, so that’s not a problem. But with heavy soils/rocks I’d suggest a kit with those.
My hens are happy!

Kinda disappointed in the netting. I have bought PoultryNet Plus netting in the past with Premier 1 and have been satisfied with the product. However, I have friends who used a competitor's fencing, and I was willing to cross over and buy from them because the posts were much stronger than the PoultryNet netting posts, and the price was attractive. When running multiple chicken tractors and fencing I need a good brand I can trust.
Anyways I was willing to give Premier 1 another chance. I was excited to see the new PoultryNet w/ PrimaPosts come out and I ordered a roll. (Disappointed there was only one size of 100' and not 164'.)
My rating of the product I’d give is 3 stars “meh”. Not impressed with the single spike, the length of 100' isn’t enough for me to do around one chicken tractor. The posts are stronger and definitely lighter in weight (positive), but the netting sags a bit more than my PoultryNet Plus does in the field. The price is the kicker though, I know inflation is through the roof and production costs are up… but I gotta hand it to others for being price competitive to Premier 1, and I LOVE the foot post on the double spike of the posts. I am not affiliated or receive any kickback, I’m just a regular Joe who has livestock and is trying to give an honest opinion for a product that I use every day.
