Premier PRS Pro 100 Solar Energizer
New! 1.0J output, suitcase-style solar powered fence energizer. The PRS Pro is an update to our original PRS units (first offered in 2010) designed to meet the needs of rotational graziers.
- ✔ Very portable
- Simply pick up and go. Easy grip handles and preformed clip grips = less fuss whenever you move fences.
- ✔ Ample reserve power
- When fully charged, two 12Ah batteries provide reserve energy for 6 sunless days. So you can be sure your fence remains effective day and night.
- ✔ Rugged suitcase design
- Heavy duty housing with strong latches protect the unit in all conditions. There’s even room for a few tools!

Common Uses
Can also be used with garden and wildlife barriers to keep out deer, raccoons, woodchucks, rabbits, opossums, skunks and more.
Benefits
Additional features:
15W glass solar panel—Glass increases longevity (vs. plastic), and the smooth surface discourages the growth of moss and other bacteria. Monocrystalline cells convert more of the sun’s energy into usable electrons.
Ground rod support—The top of a T-shaped ground rod fits into a slot on the back of the energizer's case. Prop the unit at different angles to optimize the panel’s solar collection ability.
Sealed electrical components—Ants and other insects are attracted to electrical circuitry. The PRS Pro’s primary circuit board (PCB) and transformer are “sealed”, meaning bugs cannot get inside.
Status indicator lights—Waterproof on/off switch flashes to indicate the operational status of the unit. Green when the battery has adequate voltage, red/green when the battery needs charging, and red when the battery is very low and needs immediate charging.
110V recharging port—Allows the energizer to be operated without a battery, or to recharge the battery via standard wall outlet when using the included recharger.

How to Use
Always check the voltage to ensure the fence is properly electrified before introducing animals.
Optimal Solar Orientation and Placement
Correct placement of the energizer and solar panel is critical to the best operation of the unit.1. Position the energizer so that the solar panel faces due south. This will allow the panel to receive the maximum amount of sunlight possible even during the low-light days of winter. Consider the sun’s movement throughout the day and avoid placing the unit where it may be covered by shadows from trees, bushes, tall grass, buildings or fence posts.
2. Regularly remove all debris from the solar panel. This includes grass clippings, dust (especially on gravel roads), leaves and snow as this will reduce the solar panel’s ability to recharge the battery.
Precautions
- Make sure the power is turned off before working on the fence or the energizer.
- Make sure the fence line is clear of grass and debris that may lower the fence’s voltage.
- Ensure the solar panel is facing due south and avoid placing the unit where it may be covered by shadows from trees, bushes or tall grass.
- Regularly remove all debris from the solar panel.
- Batteries that are less than 40% charged may become damaged. Batteries MUST remain fully charged in freezing conditions.
To Reduce Risk & Liability
- Never place your head or upper spine near an electrified wire. Accidental head or neck contact can occur when pushing a voltage probe into the soil. Be careful when doing so to avoid head-to-wire contact!
- Never attempt to step over or climb through an energized fence of any kind.
- Never encourage anyone to touch an electric fence.
Troubleshooting
Start by measuring the voltage at the end of the fence line. If the voltage is below 3000V, follow these steps to determine if the problem is with the fence, or the energizer.
Test the energizer first!
- Turn off the energizer.
- Disconnect the wires going to the fence and ground stake/rod.
- Turn the energizer back on.
- Measure the voltage on the energizer between the two terminals (positive and negative) with a digital voltmeter or other high-voltage tester. Touch one end to “-“ (earth terminal) and the other end to “+” (fence terminal). The reading tells you how well the energizer is working without any other variables.
- If the tester reads below 5000V, then the energizer (or possibly the battery) is the problem. If the voltage is above 5000V, then the trouble lies with your fence.
If the energizer is at fault:
- Test the battery with a low-voltage tester; recharge if lower than 12.2 volts
- Check the grounding system
If the fence is at fault:
- Conductors touching another wire, steel post or the soil
- Broken or damaged insulators
Storage
Tips to preserve battery life:
- Turn off the unit. Disconnecting the unit from the fence is not sufficient, the unit will still pulse unless it is turned off.
- Clean off the solar panel. Dust and debris may have accumulated during use and as a result prevents the panel from maximum electrical production.
- When the energizer is not being used, store the unit indoors at room temperature and out of the sun. Do not let the energizer sit in the sun for an extended period when it is turned OFF as this could damage the battery.
- When not in use, ensure the battery stays above 40% charged. Lead acid batteries don’t work well when they’re left discharged, or at a low charge, for long periods of time. Periodically recharge the battery in the sun or with the included 110V charging unit. Stop charging the battery at or above 12.6V when checked with the included fence/battery tester. Do not overcharge the battery.

In 2019, we set out to improve the PRS, but Covid slowed our R&D efforts (as it did for many other things.) We’re finally satisfied with the changes:
- Increased the size of the solar panel by 50%. Monocrystalline cells convert more of the sun’s energy into usable electrons.
- Upgraded its weather resistance. Drainage holes and channels ensure water runs off of the case, reducing potential ice build-up underneath the solar panel and around the on/off button.
- Molded a recessed cavity on bottom of unit to fit T-shaped ground rods. Prop the unit at different angles to optimize the panel’s solar collection ability.
- Added clip grips on the housing to cut down on dangling alligator clips—a hazard during transport.
- Room for tools! Store a fence tester and a few other essentials inside the housing.

This kit has everything you need. Directions are simple to follow. I never thought I would need a fence tester but after getting one I’m glad I did. More reliable than a blade of grass. Worth the money and allows from more options in setting up netting.

So far this energizer is working great. We use it on two sections of 42" tall x 164' fencing for our goats to clear out some land. I would have given 5 stars, but one of the wires for the positive hookup was cut when I received it. Looks like the metal clipping was just too tight and cut it… an easy fix. I like that it came with everything needed and appears to be very sturdy.

I am just getting used to using this energizer and I really like it, although the voltage tester’s battery was bad and I was getting a low charge reading at first. I got a good indication that it was really hot when I was filling water tank and the hose and fence touched. WOW!

Works so good. Turn it on and forget about.

Love it! I had the old PRS 100X and just purchased this one. Excellent little unit. Powers plenty of fence and packs a punch even in tall grass. Will be purchasing another unit after we wean the lambs.
