Tips
Use Ceramic Nest Eggs to encourage hens to lay in a specific area and Wooden Nest Eggs to discourage egg eating.
Roll-out trays are designed for the ChickBox Nesting Box, which have an internal ridge that lifts the rear of the tray to guide the eggs outward. If using your own nesting box, prop up the back of the tray to facilitate rolling.

These are not deep enough to keep chickens from eating the eggs. Wish I would have saved my money. Ended up building my own.

I’ve had one of these trays for over a year, and because of “chicken math” I just bought a second one. When these are properly positioned, the eggs generally roll out into the covered box well. Eggs that are out of reach of the hens don’t get muddy footprints on them on wet days, and don’t get destroyed by egg eaters. (We have one of those and what a mess that is!)
They can be hard to get positioned correctly so that the eggs consistently roll into the covered section unless you build your box to fit the tray. I’ve used shavings under the front to raise it a bit.
I also wish they came with a little handle knob, because with the tray up against the coop wall, it can be hard to open. I added knobs to mine.

I was so happy to find an economical solution to hens pecking and eating eggs!
Within 1 week the hens were laying eggs in the rollout tray. The eggs were clean and not cracked, and easy to gather.

Works as described. I elevated the rear after putting the nest material in it to make sure the eggs roll forward.

These roll out trays work great! My boxes were not 12" wide so I just easily folded up 1/2" that is scored on each side of the rollout tray. Then I had to cut down the front lip of my own wood nest box. Next I had to prop the back end of the roll out tray up 1-1/2". I blocked all my other nest boxes so the hens had to use these only and they have adapted just fine. The egg rolls nicely into the tray all clean and beautiful.
