Tips
Use Ceramic Nest Eggs to encourage hens to lay in a specific area and Wooden Nest Eggs to discourage egg eating.
Roll-out trays are designed for the ChickBox Nesting Box, which have an internal ridge that lifts the rear of the tray to guide the eggs outward. If using your own nesting box, prop up the back of the tray to facilitate rolling.

Excellent well made product, prompt delivery, but would probably fit smaller hens. Mine struggled with these. Theory is sound, but seemed very unstable and slippery for my hens.

We bought 2 of the roll out trays with flap in hopes that it would help with some of our chickens to stop busting eggs. So far it has. We had to do some adjusting to our coop but simply added an extra board to secure it and so it wouldn’t move around when the hens were laying. They are very high quality plastic. And shipping was very quick.

So far this has been worthless. My hens avoid it. They prefer to lay eggs anywhere but in the nest box with this tray.

I was losing the battle against magpies stealing eggs. Those birds are so smart that nothing works long term. I modified the inserts by covering up the egg compartment with black material so the eggs were not visible (on the inside to keep from getting chicken poopie). I have some older hens so the fall to the egg holder was cracking the thin shells—fixed by placing a strip of thin foam on the bumper edge. Some of my hens are still unwilling to use the boxes, but I think with time they will warm up to them. Putting some dried grass and fake eggs (ceramic, from Premier 1) seems to help, but then, of course, the eggs don’t roll. Hens are already trained to lay in existing boxes, but are wary about the new inserts.
