Tips
Use Ceramic Nest Eggs to encourage hens to lay in a specific area and Wooden Nest Eggs to discourage egg eating.
Roll-out trays are designed for the ChickBox Nesting Box, which have an internal ridge that lifts the rear of the tray to guide the eggs outward. If using your own nesting box, prop up the back of the tray to facilitate rolling.

This roll out nest tray with the flap is very good quality, however, I was disappointed to learn that the concave nest area is too small for my standard size Ameraucana hens, although it worked perfectly for my single bantam sized Silkie. The other downside to this nest tray is that my two egg eating hens were still able to reach into the covered tray to roll eggs out for eating. I do believe that if the concave nesting area were larger and the covered tray where the eggs collect was deeper that these improvements would make this the perfect rollaway tray. I was sad that this was not a solution for my coop, perhaps Premier 1 can improve upon this current design.

I had high hopes, based on other reviews but my chickens won’t use them. I even placed a fake egg and nesting pine shavings as normal. It’s been about 7 days. The trays are a front to back nesting orientation and my chickens are more used to sideways nesting orientation so maybe that is a problem for my girls. At this point the jury is still out.

Clever idea that doesn't work with my hens.
The eggs roll as designed but one of the hens can still stretch their neck and peck a hole and eat the contents of the egg.
The collection trays are too wide and overlap each other making it difficult (but not impossible) to open the covers revealing the very clean eggs.

I purchased 3 Roll Out Trays for my 6-hen backyard coop I purchased from a local farm supply store. I thought I was going to have to purchase the more expensive complete laying box units for sale by various manufacturers to help me keep the eggs from being damaged by the chickens. I was happy to find out that Premier sold these drop in inserts. My coop has a laying box with a lid and two separators that measure a tight 12" wide and 12" long, so it's as if these were made for my coop. The fit is snug and the only concern is I needed to pull them about a 1/4" forward so that I could lift the cover of the egg box all the way up without it hitting the inside sides of the laying box. My pullets are laying daily, and I find they have chosen one of the three to lay in. The other two boxes lay empty all but one time and the one box is generally full of droppings each morning. This was worth the spend!

Not happy with product. The eggs don't really roll down as it is pretty flat, the opening is too big so that chickens can get the eggs back out, and they don't like to lay in there. So far a waste of money. I was trying to stop egg eating but it isn't working.
The roll-out trays are designed for the ChickBox nesting box, which have an internal ridge that lifts the rear of the roll-out tray to guide the eggs outward. In your own nesting box, prop up the back of the tray to facilitate rolling.
To encourage hens to lay in the box, use bedding for the first week or so (in addition to the egg we mentioned above). Once hens are accustomed to laying in this location, gradually remove bedding until none is left to impede egg travel.
