Tips
Use Ceramic Nest Eggs to encourage hens to lay in a specific area and Wooden Nest Eggs to discourage egg eating.
Roll-out trays are designed for the ChickBox Nesting Box, which have an internal ridge that lifts the rear of the tray to guide the eggs outward. If using your own nesting box, prop up the back of the tray to facilitate rolling.

Yeah! My girls are happily laying eggs in the rollaway nesting trays and I am happily collecting them!

Proved me wrong in the best way!
I have a hen that loves fresh eggs. She’s lucky she’s my favorite, but we didn’t get any eggs for weeks because she got to them first. I saw this tray and the measurements were right to fit into our existing nest box, so I figured I’d try it.
When it arrived, I tried it on the kitchen counter and could NOT get an egg to roll into the tray. It rolled to one side or the other and stayed, even if I propped it up at an angle. I thought for sure I had wasted my money, but I stuck it out in the nest box with some shavings underneath it to keep it about the same elevation that the box full of shavings would normally be. I sprinkled a few shavings into it for familiarity for the girls, but not enough to inhibit the egg from rolling. I placed an egg into the tray as a sacrifice, so they hens could see it was still a nest box.
Lo and behold, the next day we had an egg! And then two! (We’ve only got four hens laying right now.) They had no issue acclimating to it, and the covered container keeps “Goosie” from getting to them. We’re getting eggs daily again… Making this well worth the money! I swear Goosie has been giving me the evil eye ever since, but we had scrambled eggs this morning for breakfast, so she’ll have to make due with non-egg treats!

We have not finished our chicken coop, but the trays appear to be well built.

We bought one knowing we’d have to make an “adjustment” to use in our nest boxes. Neutral on this so far, as they’re made for specific nest boxes, but I’m thinking they could still work with what we have. Know the details of what you have, size, type, position, etc…

Tried fake eggs. This tray has made it possible to get eggs and keep the egg-eaters at bay.
