Tips
Use Ceramic Nest Eggs to encourage hens to lay in a specific area and Wooden Nest Eggs to discourage egg eating.
Roll-out trays are designed for the ChickBox Nesting Box, which have an internal ridge that lifts the rear of the tray to guide the eggs outward. If using your own nesting box, prop up the back of the tray to facilitate rolling.

We were not sure if these would work in our existing boxes. They were a perfect fit. We only had to adjust the front, for height, to get the slope correct. Our hens immediately took to them with no issues. My only complaint would be our few, rather large, hens that lay on top of the catch tray. I'm completely satisfied and have ordered 3 more for our additional box.

The roll away boxes were great, I could even fit them inside my Eglu Pro, blocking off the center layer box. However, my chickens that were egg eating still continued to reach in and get the eggs. At least I have these for future ventures to keep eggs clean!

These roll out nest boxes have many advantages. They can be placed for inward or outward use. They can easily be removed for cleaning. We have a rear entry nesting box and I keep wooden eggs in the nesting area, so the rollout feature is not as important to us as the ease of access and convenience of cleaning. Love these!
Have just added a new coop for additional chicks this year. I am going to try nesting pads in these when they are laying age. The wooden eggs are used to discourage egg pecking. They are much lighter than real eggs so I think they will stay in the bowl portion allowing the real eggs to roll under the flap. Loose bedding tends to bunch up as the hens like to hollow out a space to lay the eggs in.

These are exactly what I was looking for. We custom built our own coop, with nesting boxes accessible for collection from the outside. We had trouble with egg eaters, but any other roll away tray wouldn’t work inside our nesting boxes due to shape. We simply turned these sideways and it worked perfectly. You will have to affix it to something in order to get the “tilt” that causes the eggs to roll (we used a 2x4 cut to size). It was a small adjustment for our hens, but so far after a week, it’s working great and everyone seems happy!
