TuffRing™ II Insulator
Screw-in ring insulator well-suited for starting (or ending) a low-tension fence line on a wooden post.
- Securely holds electroplastic polywires, ropes and twines, or low-tension steel wire. Smooth surface reduces friction and allows conductor to move freely.
- Self-tapping screw (1.25" length) saves time and labor
To ease installation, use a Easy Drill Tool.
Specs
- Temperature resistant nylon
- Length: 3.5"; Self-tapping screw: 1.25"
- Shank: Galvanized steel (0.23" dia.) to resist corrosion
- Ring diameter: 1.5"; inner diameter: 0.5"
- Hooked shank (0.23" dia.) goes half-way around inside of nylon ring for added strength
- Self-tapping galvanized screw (1.25" length) saves time and labor
How to Use
- Put bit end of driver tool into chuck of drill and tighten.
- Position driver over the insulator so the ring of insulator fits into cup of driver. Drive insulator completely into the post.
- Thread low-tension conductor through insulator.
- Predrill holes in the wooden post
- Screw insulator completely into the post.
- Thread low-tension conductor through insulator.
Tips
Add a P Spring when terminating to maintain desired tension.

Excellent. East to install and use.

Poor insulation quality. About half of these conduct the pulse. Using the Premier 1 charger, so the voltage is a little higher (8kV). The plastic is thin between the conductor wire sitting in the loop and the metal screw inside the insulator, which is where the pulse arcs through burning up the insulator and eventually the plastic strands in the wire. Unfortunate, as everything else about this thing is great.

They work and are the best that I have used so far... I have replaced similar hooks and also porcelain insulators that have broken on me.
These are easy to use with a cordless drill and the installation tool, plus they last and my goats do not seem to tear them up and they also seem to stand up to weather.
Only wish I had used these to begin with.
