Deluxe Marking Harness
Product Details
Our Deluxe Marking Harness is designed to reduce risk of chafing skin between legs and built to handle heavy rams.
It's a world-class breeding harness because:
- Wider (2"), blue nylon straps—distribute pressure more evenly over the ram's body. Also easier to find and adjust the straps when they're in deep wool.
- Unique padded (0.2" thick) white straps behind the front legs to prevent skin abrasion.
- Much larger snap buckles and metal loops—harness's connection and stress points are reinforced. Even gloved hands can manipulate the large snap buckles.
- Padded holder for marking crayons (sold separately).

How to Use
Tips
- More likely to stay on if the ram's brisket has 2 months' wool growth.
- Adjust frequently. Rams and bucks lose weight during breeding season.
- If the forelegs begin to chafe, adjust harness or add padding/covering.
- Crayon fits on brisket, between the forelegs.
- The best practice is to put the harness on a few days before putting the ram in with the ewes. This allows time for the harness to settle in, and for adjustments.

The quality is great. The idea is simple. But my 340lb ram is too big! I need to go down to the sporting goods store and get some webbing and nylon strap clips to make an 16” extension to fit my big boy!
For most standard size rams this is a great harness. My breed happens to exceed most universally sized products. I would recommend the manufacturer adding expansion straps to their product line. I have the same issues with the teaser ram blocker harnesses and the prolapse straps on my girls! Extensions that just clip on should be a standard option with all of these.
Terrific quality, well worth the extra work to fit them on.

Works really well. We have two and have no problem with them.

These are definitely a higher-end product, and we were/are thinking that we should upgrade all of our harnesses to these.
However, of the 2 that we tried out this year, one of them ended up with a broken buckle after the first week. Extra buckles should be provided or at least sold as an accessory. Fortunately we saw the brokenness before we grabbed the strap. Last year I caught a ewe by the prolapse harness with a broken plastic buckle and it almost took off my finger. Broken buckles can be dangerous on an unconstrained animal.

So far so good! This is our second marking harness that we have bought. Both different brands, and this one by far, is the winner! We haven't had to adjust or tighten once. Great buy!

This is a great product! If I could do one thing to make it easier... directions. We had to play with it for a while on n off the ram till we figured it out.
