Borotto® Lumia 56 Egg Incubator
Product Details
New! Borotto’s® flagship poultry incubator sets the standard for high-capacity egg hatching in a compact, energy-saving design. Holds up to 56 large eggs (e.g. goose, chickens), or 224 small eggs (e.g. partridge, quail).
Key Features:
- Adjusts temperature and turns the eggs for you!
- Universal egg tray system holds any type of egg vertically, from goose eggs to quail eggs
- Maintain humidity by adding water to built-in trays, or use a Humidity Pump (sold separately) to automatically draw water from an external source, such as a 2-liter bottle
- Monitor the hatching process through a transparent heat-resistant lid
Instructions/Diagrams:
Benefits
The Lumia 56 Egg Incubator will successfully hatch eggs from: Chickens, pheasants, guinea fowl, quail, partridges and ducks. Eggs from some species of goose, turkey and peafowl may also be used. Very large eggs will NOT fit in the turner.
- Universal egg tray system securely holds all egg types vertically for superior hatch rates (vs. horizontally incubated eggs)
- Automatic egg turning system turns eggs left to right; each cycle lasts an hour
- Insulated ventilation for uniform air movement and temperature/humidity control
- BIOMASTER® antimicrobial plastic additive prevents harmful growth of bacteria on surfaces
Advantages of a Humidity Pump:
When using a humidity pump, you simply refill any external container with clean water and the machine does the rest! The SIRIO Humidity Pump provides stable relative humidity during the entire incubation process. No need for periodic checks or water level top-ups. The result is fewer birds lost to temperature and humidity changes caused by opening the lid.Specs

REAL vs. LUMIA—How to choose…
For those new to hatching eggs, Borotto’s® REAL incubators are budget-friendly and a great choice for small-to-medium hatches (24–49 chicken eggs).Upgrade to LUMIA incubators for professional-level hatching in a compact, energy-saving design. LUMIA’s large, transparent lid gives you a birds-eye view of the entire hatching process.
Hatching Tips
Always choose eggs suitable for incubation. If possible, choose eggs that have not traveled by mail. Why? Because eggs that are closed inside packaging do not breathe and may have experienced excessive travel stress, vibration, and temperature changes.
Do not incubate eggs dirty with fecal material, as during incubation the temperature and humidity will lead to the establishment of bacterial flora. This can contaminate all the eggs, causing infections to the embryos and resulting in premature death during hatching.
Choose eggs of normal shape (they must not be elongated, spherical, undulated or with any other malformation).
Precautions
The room’s relative humidity should be between 20%–80% when using the SIRIO Humidity Pump, or between 50%–75% without.
Borotto® incubators are designed for the simple incubation of most poultry eggs. Very large eggs will NOT fit in the turner. Temperature and humidity calibration is performed at the factory and is not user-adjustable. Please read the specifications of the incubator to make sure it will work for your situation.

It saved my ducklings! I had eggs under a few broody ducks, and while I was away on a trip, they stole more eggs to sit on… a week and a half after they started sitting on their first clutch. Since I knew they’d abandon the majority of the eggs when their first babies hatched, I decided to take the oldest ones away when they were about to hatch. Despite that not being recommended to hatch eggs that were already under a broody mother duck, it worked! All but one hatched. The one that didn’t hatch was quite cracked already, so likely not the fault of the incubator. Glad I bought it, it worked! The instruction manual I received was not exactly like the model I had… so it made for a confusing setup. But once I figured out how to hook it up it was okay. I wish things were better labeled, as I had a hard time figuring out what cord went to what part.
