Benefits
Netting is quick and simple to move. Even for new users, it takes less than 10 minutes to go from out-of-the-box netting to installed fence.
Common Uses
- Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis
- Rotate poultry to fresh grass as a food source and to reduce disease risks
- Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.
- Keeps out deer, bears, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks
- Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs

Tips
An electric fence does NOT have to make a circle. You can overlap the fences or make a U-turn.
Visit this link for answers to other common fencing questions.
Precautions
Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.
Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric fencing. Ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause posts to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed. We recommend using drivable or single spike posts in hard soils. Double spike posts provide more stability when the ground is soft.
Warranty
3-year warranty for energizers and solar panels cover lightning damage and defective parts or workmanship. Should an energizer fail, we will replace the unit, bill you for the cost to do so, then reimburse you for warranted expenses after we have examined the failed unit. Misuse and flood damage are not covered.
30-day warranty for all batteries.

Purchased the electric fencing (kit and extra 100') to keep my first flock of chickens in my yard and out of the garden. My son-in-law and daughter put up the fencing and solar energizer fairly quickly once we figured out the area we wanted to use. Chickens have done great, dogs are still learning.

Very easy to set up! So far it’s been in place for one week… I’m using with my ChickShaw 2.0. We bought this because we will be moving the flock around the property weekly. Depending on the shape of the pen you’re making you might want more reinforced posts, mine is a circular shape now, so we used some additional T-posts with the yellow hot fence attachments to keep the net tension correct. I do clip my girl’s wings as well since they can jump the fence. I’m hoping my local rabbits won’t eat through.

I love this stuff. I bought the complete poultry netting kit with all the pieces included. Unlike the last product I bought (hawk netting; not from Premier 1), which was bloody nightmare to install and looks like crap, the poultry netting could not have been easier to set up and the green/black color makes it really unobtrusive visually. Through operator error I wasn’t getting power at first, but customer service picked up the phone right away and was excellent about walking me through troubleshooting, so it quickly became apparent how I’d screwed up: some of the netting was touching the wire cloth of the run and creating a short. As soon as that contact was removed the whole length of netting was working great and has been ever since. One thing I’d definitely recommend is getting the sturdier corner posts because they really make a difference keeping the netting from sagging. They come with the kit, but if you buy the pieces a la carte make sure you add some to your order.
The cows haven’t touched the netting since their first inspection, which taught them that the fence is hot, so I don’t have to worry about them trying to break into the run and then into the barn for treats. I saw one chicken learn the hard way to stay away from the netting. It’s been up just a week but I’ve had no losses, no escapes, and no incursions from cows, dogs, or predators. If I’d known how much I’d like having chickens I’d have set them up closer to my house, but they’re down by the barn and it’s out of sight from here, so having the netting and the hawk barrier have made me a lot more comfortable about letting the birds out of the coop and run during the day. That combined with the ease of set-up and the quality of the materials make this stuff absolutely worth the price, and in fact I’m going to be getting another 100' to give the birds even more room.

As a first-time chicken owner, my main concern was predators in our rural location — and the 48" Premier 1 fencing was the solution! I did the research, watched tons of videos, and fully expected the ease and convenience we experienced in set-up and operation. What I didn't expect was how SMART and competent I feel for choosing this! From the day of installation, we had 6 consecutive, sunless days of rain, yet the IntelliShock 60 energizer never faltered, maintaining power until the sun came out again! The 100-ft fence at 48" high was fairly easy to handle and install, and leaves the option for adding other livestock in the future as my confidence — and my homesteading skills — increase.

I wanted to use the fence a month and move it around before giving a review. I purchased this to use with our chickens. I struggled with the price point! It was more of an investment rather than a purchase. That being said, I did the initial set up with ease. It took me about an hour as I am a novice at all things farming/ homesteading. I have since moved the chickens and fencing. Following the suggestions of taking it down in reverse was key to the same ease of putting it back up in a new location.
In my opinion, Premier 1 is a bit pricey because they have put out an EXCELLENT product! It is true you get what you pay for. This fencing is worth every single penny. I will purchase Premier 1 fencing for all my fencing needs. Thank you Premier 1 for putting out a well designed and easy to assemble product! GREAT JOB!
