Shock-Or-Not™ Poultry Fence & Kit
A multi-purpose electric poultry net fence with a non-electrifiable chick-tight mesh along the bottom. This combination allows you to use the enclosure as a non-electrified day pen for small birds, or electrified for effective predator protection day and night.
Each roll of netting is a complete fence with the posts already built into the mesh/fence. 48" tall.
When to electrify—It’s important to electrify the fence in areas where predators are a nuisance, or if your birds will be unsupervised for long periods of time. Without a proper deterrence, animals will not learn to respect the fence and, unfortunately, will test it. You will need a fence energizer to electrify the net.
When not to electrify—Some folks prefer to watch their birds during the day and take them in at night. They can use a non-energized fence.
If your flock is not under constant supervision, then we strongly advise that you electrify the fence. Non-electrified netting will not stop predators.
The chick-tight mesh allows it to be used non-energized (birds can’t squirm through the 3/4" spacings). For nighttime protection against predators, electrify the netting or move birds into a coop.

It is best to train animals to electric fence before you turn them out in the net only. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.
Warning! Due to risk of fire, do NOT use continuous output energizers with electric netting or electro-plastic conductors such as rope, twine or tape. Use only with a low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizer. (Fi-Shock™ brand energizers which are sold as low impedance, continuous current output should NOT be used with electric netting.) All energizers sold on Premier’s website use an intermittent pulse and are suitable for use with electric netting.
Dry conditions and wintertime usage may reduce the effectiveness of electric netting. We do not recommend the use of electric netting during harsh winter conditions—ice and heavy snow can flatten netting and thereby damage it.
Dry or frozen ground may cause post spikes to bend or break if inserted with force. Pilot holes may be needed.
Tall grass: mow the fenceline prior to installing the net. This reduces grass contact on the conductors (and power loss). It also levels the surface, reducing grass hummocks that cause gaps beneath the net that young poultry may be tempted to escape.
Rabbits, chipmunks, mice and other small critters may chew through the nonelectrified strings of Shock-Or-Not.
With Shock-Or-Not™ Poultry Fence, the bottom hot wire can slip off of the plastic portion of the end posts onto the metal spikes. This will cause a dead short and no energy will be on the fence. Unhook the energizer and slide the hot wire back onto the post. Reconnect the energizer to the net and test.

I don’t know how I lived without this fence, so easy to put up and move. Description says use two people to install, but I did it by myself. Great product!

I purchased this netting for 3 week old chicks. The website specifically says it will contain chicks, however in my experience, it does not. On multiple occasions I’ve had chicks get out from underneath the fence no matter how tight I make the line. I watched the videos the website provided to make sure I didn’t miss anything. It still doesn’t work. I mowed the fence line and used my foot to make sure it was tight as they suggested, and still to my dismay they still get out. The posts and fencing are made of high quality materials and hold up very well in all conditions. But the inability to house chicks, which is specifically why I bought it, is frustrating.

The Shock-Or-Not electric poultry net is great! I went with the double spike posts to prevent sagging and couldn't be happier, very durable/great quality. Not to mention the product came SUPER fast, very nicely packaged too. Looking forward to many years with this product and will be ordering much more products sooner than later as we're expanding our homestead next year!

I'm not sure if you guys have heard of Justin Rhodes? But I am implementing his strategies, works great. Didn't know that chickens would be so easy to move daily. Love your fencing. Definitely will be back and will also recommend. Thank you very much!
