Quick Clean Waterer (with legs), 3 gal
Used for watering poultry, including waterfowl. Waterer stands up and out of the bedding to reduce soiling.
Instructions/Diagrams:
Specs
- Capacity: 3 gallon
- Size: 13"H, 15" pan diameter and 1.5" pan depth
- Suited for: adults
- Number of birds: 35
- Waterfowl: yes
Benefits
- Has three legs to stand up and out of the bedding to reduce coiling of water tray. Legs elevate waterer 5".
- Simple design that's easy to clean and refill. To fill remove red lid and add water. Ideally refill with a hose because it's heavy to carry when filled to the top.
- Worked both indoors and outdoors.
How to Use
We suggest periodically dismantling and cleaning the unit to prevent hard water and algae build up from obstructing the float system.
Precautions
For proper function place waterer on a level surface. If used outside, the lid may blow off in strong winds.

I despise this waterer. It is stupid difficult to put together and there are several small parts that are easily lost. If the lid ever comes off and heaven forbid a piece of debris falls in, it'll immediately stop working.
Unless it's on a *perfectly* level spot, it leaks until it's empty in minutes and you are left with mud and thirsty birds. Algea grows in it like you're getting paid to grow it. Cleaning it is a half hour chore and if you miss one little bit of dirt, guess what, it leaks.
I hate it so very much. Maybe it'll give it to my kid for target practice.

Ours is almost a year old, and it just got retired. I had to flexseal the bottom fittings to keep it from leaking a few months after we got it, which wasn’t that big of deal. What was a big deal was continuing to try to keep water in the basin. We’ve had heat indexes of 110+, and our chickens were out of water several times this summer. The flow just wouldn’t stop, and it just puddled around the base of the waterer. Leveling the stand and cleaning the vent, only seemed to be a temporary fix.
We loved the QC waterer when it worked, but we went back to cheap farm store waterers. They’re more troublesome to refill and keep clean, but the don’t have any issues.

We have bought many waterers since we got our chickens and this is the best one. It holds 3 gallons, so it doesn't need constant refilling. The big lid allows easy access. It's off the ground so doesn't get dirty as quickly as the low ones. I love that you can buy parts separately. We just bought this new one plus pieces to rehab the one we've had for over a year that needs a new lid and perhaps some other pieces - we'll know better when we've taken it apart and given it a deep clean. Anyway, an excellent product and we're very happy with it.

I got the 3 gallon easy fill waterer with legs and the lid. I totally love this thing! It is easy to fill and easy to clean! I put it up on some blocks of wood to raise it just a little to help keep the shavings out of the water. I keep it inside the coop because I have different water outside in pen. This is a great waterer! I think the 5 gallon one would be too heavy for me. I like to take it to the door step and tip it a bit and use a dish sponge to clean the trough every day. Very easy and 3 gallons is perfect!

Water stopped flowing after about 4 weeks. Had to take it completely apart, remove algae, and re-assemble it. (Not really sure how that qualifies as "quick clean"!) A few weeks later, same problem and same cleaning regimen but it only worked for 2 days. I won't risk my chickens not having water. I wouldn't buy this again.
